October draw
jervy

Congratulations to Jervy from the Philippines for winning the latest monthly prize with Macmillan Online. Jervy says:
I am always looking forward for opportunities that will help me to hone and improve my proficiency in the English language and I am definite that this course will give me the chance to develop my full potential of becoming an English speaker someday. Currently, I am working as a Clinical Instructor in one of the Catholic University in the Philippines. I am a Nurse by profession but I chose this line of work because I believe that teaching strategies and instruction will help me build my self confidence and improve my communication skills. I used to work as an ER Nurse in the Hospital, but after earning my Master’s Degree, I decided to enter and take part in the world of Nursing Educators. At present, the University imposed a policy called the “JEP (Just English Please) Policy” for all the members of the faculty including the students and staff. It requires all the people on campus to speak and communicate using the English language and so i believe that studying online with this course will definitely assist me to cope up with the above mentioned policy, and express confidence when speaking in class. I have been in the academe for almost 2 years and I can say that teaching is a very exciting, challenging, but rewarding profession.

I would like to say thank you to ENGLISH FOR UNIVERSITY.COM for providing us with all the information and skills to support our journey towards exploring the English language.

march-draw-winner

Bill is the winner of the March draw. Bill lives in a small city in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. Bill is recently retired and has started working with overseas students to improve their English. ” I found that the experience was enlightening for me as well as my student friends. Whilst providing examples of language in different scenarios I was challenged to provide a variety of new and at times confusing terms and also to explain the reasons for using certain expressions and avoiding others. My student friends have now returned to their homeland but I soon will begin to assist others. The internet has such great potential for increasing knowledge. I am sure that the information that I have gleaned from the English for University website has helped me and look forward to accessing the Macmillan’s Online Advanced English and IELTS course.
